Title:
THREAD-WOUND GOLF BALL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3117038
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the durability of a thread-wound golf ball without reducing the productivity and flight performance by extending and winding a rubber thread having the cross-sectional shape with the thickness/width ratio of a specific value around a center while the thickness direction is made coincident with the radial direction of the ball to form a rubber thread layer.
CONSTITUTION: A rubber thread 4 having the cross-sectional shape with the ratio t/w of 0.3 or above between the thickness (t) and the width (w) is used for the rubber thread constituting a rubber thread layer 2, and the rubber thread 4 is extended and wound around a center 1 while the thickness direction (t) of the rubber thread 4 is made coincident with the radial direction of a ball to form the rubber thread layer 2. Balata is used for a cover material 3, the cover material 3 is infiltrated into the rubber thread layer 2 by 4 mm or above from the surface of the rubber thread layer 2 when the balata cover 3 is covered on the surface of the rubber thread layer 2, or an ionomer resin is used for the cover material 3, and the cover material 3 is infiltrated into the rubber thread layer 2 by 4 mm or above from the surface of the rubber thread layer 2 when the ionomer cover 3 is covered on the surface of the rubber thread layer 2.
