Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a film which is produced from a polyester compsn. contg. specific finely divided polymer particles in a homodisperse distribution, has surfaces contg. no undesirable extreme structure, no agglomerate, nor rough elevation, and is useful as a base for a magnetic recording element.

CONSTITUTION: This film is produced from a polyester compsn. contg. 0.005-5.0 wt.% finely divided polymer particles in a substantially homodisperse distribution, the particles being prepd. by emulsion polymn. and crosslinked and having a particle size distribution in a range of 0.02-2.0 μm and a ratio of wt. average particle size (Dw) to number average particle size (Dn), pref., lower than 1.1, is stretched mono- or biaxially, and is heat set. Pref., the film is used as a part of a multilayer film of which one outer layer contains a pigment and the other outer layer is not colored.
