PURPOSE: To operate a filter apparatus without stopping a process to obtain a melt of high quality and to reduce the loss of a material in the discharge of a filter cake by engaging a filter element with a scraping member and continuously cleaning a filtering surface.
CONSTITUTION: A material to be filtered is carried into a spiral passage 18 through the inlet port 2 of a housing 1. The spiral bands 16, 16a rotated in the spiral passage 18 are engaged with the inner surface of the housing 1 and the filtering surface A of a cup 5 to generate shearing deformation in the material and a melt is forcibly passed through the pores 7 of the filtering surface A to be guided to the interior of the cup 5. Subsequently, the melt is guided to the passage of an extrusion head 10 through an outlet port 3. When a scraping member 15 is rotated within the viscous melt, the spiral bands 16, 16a are twisted with respect to an axial line to be reduced in inner diameter. By this constitution, a scraping member 15 and the filtering surface A are continuously engaged and a cake is perfectly removed from the filtering surface A over a long time without stopping a filtering process.
