PURPOSE: To make manufacturing the title filter membrane inexpensive and to make it suitable for separation of a soln. by forming the filter membrane which is constituted of an internal pressure type tubular membrane of mullite- based ceramic.
CONSTITUTION: The filter membranes 21, 22 constituted of an internal pressure type tubular membrane are formed of mullite-based ceramic. For example, a base material layer 21 made of mullite-based ceramic is formed into a tubular shape and constituted so as to equip a porelike water passage having about 3μm diameter. The surface film layer 22 made of mullite-based ceramic is formed on the inner surface of the base material layer 21 and the porelike water passage having about 0.1-0.3μm diameter is equipped. By such a constitution, the base material layer 21 functions as a strengthened member and the inside surface film layer 22 functions as a practical filter membrane. As a result, the manufacturing cost is made inexpensive and also this filter membrane is hardly soluble in water. Therefore the filter membrane can be obtained which is proper for separation of suspended solid in liquid to be treated.
