PURPOSE: To enable the automatic shutting-off of a fluid circuit when removing a filter element, by using a valve push-up means related to the filter element, so that a valve body provided in a main body and a check valve attached to the valve body are kept open.

CONSTITUTION: In service condition as shown in the figure, the valve body 2 in the main body 1 of the filter is pushed up by a filtering material retainer 8, an elastic member 15 is compressed and a clearance is always maintained between the valve portion 2d of the valve body 2 and the valve seat portion 1c of the main body 1 of the filter. The valve stem 5f of a check valve 5 is thrusted by the filtering material retainer 8 through a push metal 18 so that a clearance is maintained between a valve element 5b and a valve seat 5g and an oil flows from an oil inlet port 1a to an oil outlet port 1b through a passage 2a, an annular chamber 21, a filter element 3, another passage 2c and a chamber 2b. To clean up the filter element, the oil conduction is stopped, bolts 17 are removed and a filter housing 6 is moved down. As a result, the valve body 2 is displaced downwards and the check valve 5 is closed so that oil leakage is stopped.
