Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable the repeated use of diatomaceous earth due to washing to reduce the amt. of a waste cake by filtering liquid food by diatomaceous earth in a filter device and subsequently washing a filter cake with water in the filter device under air bubbling to remove a contaminant.
CONSTITUTION: A definite amt. of diatomaceous earth is mixed with raw soy in a precoat tank 1 and the resulting mixture is sent to a candle type filter device 3 by a pump 2 to uniformly bond diatomaceous earth to the surface of the filter in the filter device 3 and raw soy in a raw soy tank 9 is sent to the filter device 3 by the pump 2 to be filtered. Thereafter, a definite amt. of the hot water in a hot water tank 15 is sent to the filter device 3 by the pump 2 while air is sent into the lower part of the filter device 3 from a compressor 13 and a cake is washed under air bubbling. After the cake is washed, a definite amt. of raw soy is sent into the filter device 3 and air is sent to bubble the raw soy to suspend washed diatomaceous earth in the raw soy and the raw soy is further sent to be circulated to uniformly precoat the surface of the filter with diatomaceous earth.
