PURPOSE:To utilize the result of a check on the logical consistency between an event to be generated definitely and an event not to be generated definitely effectively for an analysis of reliability without nullifying the experience and knowledge obtained by the last reliability analysis by checking on the logical consistency between said events, and displaying the contents of logical contradiction if the contradiction is found. CONSTITUTION:A fault tree to be checked and couples of events which never occur within the width of the tree are stored on a magnetic disk 1. An operator actuates a main body through a keyboard 3 to check on whether some tree has consistency with some specific object or not. A computer 2, on the other hand, inputs the tree and the couples of events which never occur at the same time from the disk 1. The result is displayed on the display area of the keyboard 3, so the operator inputs settled fact as to a specific event at a stage 5 over a look at the displayed tree. The computer 2 checks the logical consistency on the basis of those inputs. If some contradiction is found, that is displayed on the display.
