This fingerprint inputting device is equipped with a two-dimensional image sensor to take a fingerprint image from a fingerprint measurement part with a fingerprint ridge line parts and fingerprint valley parts of a finger of the measurement object, and a transparent solid film which is laid on the imaging plane of the two dimensional image sensor and on which the fingerprint measurement part is laid when the fingerprint image is taken. In the fingerprint input device to take the image of the fingerprint ridge line parts in the fingerprint measurement part as bright parts and the fingerprint valley parts in the fingerprint measurement part as dark parts via an air layer, the refraction index n3 of the transparent solid film satisfies that the contrast C0 defined when the thickness of the transparent solid film is infinitely near zero becomes over a value for obtaining an s/n for fingerprint recognition when intensity of noise is given.
