The firmware rewriting device includes a reception means for receiving sub picture data that is encoded firmware data, an image processing means for decoding the sub picture data received by the reception means into the firmware data, and a firmware rewriting means for rewriting firmware data for the image processing means with the firmware data decoded by the image processing means. Thereby, the firmware data for the image processing means can thus be rewritten in an extremely simple operation.
