PURPOSE: To obtain light-gage stockings excellent in soft touch, hygroscopic properties, stretchability and fitness by alternately interknitting respective specific covered yarns and core spun yarns for each course.
CONSTITUTION: The objective stockings prepared by alternately interknitting (A) covered yarns formed from core yarns of rubber-like elastic fiber yarns of 10-30 denier (optimally polyurethane-based synthetic fiber yarn) and covering yarns of polyamide-based synthetic multifilament yarns of 5-20 total denier (most preferably polycaprolactam) or textured yarns thereof and (B) core spun yarns ≥100 total count (English cotton count) having a core layer formed from synthetic fiber multifilament yarns of 5-20 total denier or textured yarns thereof and a sheath layer formed from hydrophilic fiber staples for each course in at least leg parts.
