To solve the problem that sodium diethyldithiocarbamate aqueous solution to be used as a heavy metal fixation treatment agent can not be used safely since it is easily decomposed and generates not only harmful carbon disulfide but also strongly combustible and stimulative diethylamine gas.
Solid sodium diethyldithiocarbamate hydrate is excellent in transportability and preservation stability compared to anhydride or aqueous solution, and by mixing it in a heavy metal containing material together with water, the fixation treatment of the heavy metal is performed without generating the harmful carbon disulfide and the strongly combustible and stimulative diethylamine gas. As the sodium diethyldithiocarbamate hydrate, sodium diethyldithiocarbamate trihydrate is preferable.
