To provide an assembly method for a fixed constant velocity universal joint and an assembly method for a constant velocity universal joint, in which weight of an outside joint member itself is reduced, and efficiently reducing the weight without increasing an amount of grease.
In the fixed constant velocity universal joint, a lightening hole 40 in a shape of a blind hole is disposed to a cup bottom inner surface 31a of an outside universal joint member 23, and an opening part of the lightening hole 40 is blocked by a thin plate body 50. After a cage 28 is assembled into the outside joint member 23, the thin plate body 50 is inserted into a cup back part through the cage 28 and is installed to the opening part of the lightening hole 40 of the cup bottom inner surface 31a, so that the opening part of the lightening hole 40 is blocked by the thin plate body 50. Next, after an inside joint member 26 is assembled into the cup part 30, torque transmission balls 27 are assembled therein. Then, after lubricant is sealed therein, a shaft 35 is fitted into a hole part 29 of the inside joint member 26.
