To provide a fixing device capable of effectively removing toner accumulated near the tip part of a paper stripping means, especially toner accumulated between the paper stripping means and a heating means and toner accumulated on the downstream side of the direction of rotation in conveying transfer paper of the heating means near the tip part of the paper stripping means.
The fixing device has a heating roller 100 provided so as to be rotatable forward and backward, a heating roller 300 which is arranged opposite to the heating roller 100 to form a nip part 200 and provided so as to be rotatable forward and backward, a separation pawl 400 arranged so as to be in contact with at least one of the heating roller 100 and the pressure roller 300, a rotation direction switching means 500 for switching the directions of rotation of the heating roller 100 and the pressure roller 300 and a contact condition change means 600 for changing contact conditions under which the separation pawl 400 comes in contact with the heating roller 100 and/or the pressure roller 300.
