A fixing device 33 comprises a heating roller 61, a motor 64, a pressure roller 63, a temperature detection member 83 and a printer control substrate 71. The heating roller 61 has a halogen lamp 61b. The motor 64 rotates the heating roller 61. The pressure roller 63 is arranged to contact with the heating roller 61. The temperature detection member 83 detects a temperature of the heating roller 61. When the temperature detected by the temperature detection member 83 during warm-up for the halogen lamp 61b to generate heat is higher than the upper limit temperature (T2+α) in a permissible temperature range, the printer control substrate 71 determines abnormality, stops heat generation by the halogen lamp 61b, and further make the motor 64 to start rotating the heating roller 61.
