The fixing separating plate 17 has the separating member. The separating member is disposed on the exit side of the nip area of a fixing device that supplies a recording medium, with an unfixed image transferred thereto to an area between the rollers or the roller, and the belt and fixes the transfer image to the recording medium in the nip area under heat and pressure. The separating member is used for pulling the recording medium with the transfer image fixed thereon off the rollers or belt.
