To provide a relief valve for an internal combustion engine capable of effectively cutting off discharge of a flame via a discharge passage.
This relief valve 100 includes: a base provided with an opening communicated with a crankcase of the internal combustion engine, and forming a body; a gate 30 movably fixed to the base, selectively opening the opening, and selectively making high temperature exhaust gas flow in from the crankcase; a flame barrier layer 60 which is arranged on the base so as to surround the opening and is provided with the discharge passage exhausting the exhaust gas to an external part, and in which a flame cutoff part for cutting off a flame included in the exhaust gas from being exhausted to the external part, and a heat transmission part for lowering the temperature of the exhaust gas are alternately arranged; and a cover fixed to an upper surface of the flame barrier layer, arranged in an upper part of the opening and forming an exhaust space for preserving the exhaust gas together with the gate and the flame barrier layer. Reduction in a pressure reduction characteristic of a valve can be prevented by easily securing the discharge passage regardless of a laminated structure of the flame barrier layer and the heat transmission part.
