To provide a flame-retardant antimicrobial textile product having excellent antimicrobial properties and deodorizing properties and excellent flame retardance and usable as a textile product such as a flameproof and fireproof curtain or a linen material, used in especially facilities such as a hospital or a home for the aged and a method for producing the textile product.
This flame-retardant antimicrobial textile product is obtained as follows. Titanium oxide particles are dispersed in an aqueous solution and at least any of a silver ammonium complex and a copper ammonium complex is added into the solution. A reducing agent is introduced and metal particles of at least any of the silver and copper are dispersed and supported on the surfaces of the titanium oxide particles by reducing deposition. The resultant antimicrobial photocatalyst agent, together with a flame-retardant binder, is dispersed in a solvent to prepare a flame-retardant antimicrobial coating liquid. The surface of the textile product is then coated with the coating liquid so that the antimicrobial photocatalyst agent and binder in an amount within the range of ≥0.2 to ≤10 wt.% based on the weight of the textile product are applied to the textile product and then dried. Thereby, a coating layer having flame-retardant antimicrobial properties is formed on the surface of the textile product.
