Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which has excellent heat resistance and mechanical and electrical characteristics and is lowly smoking and of non- pollution type, by incorporating a flame retarder in a resin component composed of two ethylene/α-olefin copolymers.

CONSTITUTION: 5W200pts.wt. addition type flame retarder (A) such as halogen- contg. compd. (e.g. hexabromobenzene), phosphorus-contg. compd. (e.g. tricresyl phosphate) and inorg. compd. [e.g. Al(OH)3] and optionally Sb2O3 (B) and not more than 100pts.wt. inorg. filler (C) (e.g. CaCO3) are blended with 100pts.wt. resin component (D) consisting of 50W90wt% ethylene/3W12C α-olefin copolymer (a) having a density of 0.86W0.91g/cm3, a boiling hexane-insoluble matter content of 10wt% or above and exhibiting the max. peak temp. Tm of 100°C or above as measured with a differential scanning calorimeter and 50W10wt% ethylene/α- olefin copolymer (b) having an MI of 0.05W50g/10min and a density of 0.91W0.97g/cm3 which is higher than that of component (a).
