To provide a flame retardant fiber-reinforced resin plate which is not only excellent in heat resistance and electrical characteristics but also difficult to be ignited and does not evolve harmful halogen compounds represented by dioxin even on combustion.
The flame retardant fiber-reinforced resin plate comprises a fiber base material and a matrix which bonds the fibers present in the fiber base material, and the matrix contains (A) a modified phenolic resin obtained by the polycondensation of a heavy oil or a pitch and a formaldehyde compound with a phenol in the presence of an acid catalyst and having a hydroxyl equivalent of not less than 140 or (B) a fused polycyclic aromatic resin obtained by the polycondensation of a heavy oil or a pitch with a formaldehyde compound in the presence of an acid catalyst, and (C) an epoxy resin.
