Abstract:

To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition made flame-retardant without using any halogen-based flame retardant.

This flame-retardant resin composition comprises a thermoplastic resin (e.g. a polyester resin) and a flame retardant; wherein the flame retardant is composed of a phosphorus-contg. compound (e.g. red phosphorus) and an aralkyl resin. This resin composition may comprise 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin and 0.1-100 pts.wt. of a flame retardant which, in turn, may composed of 100 pts.wt. of an aralkyl resin and 1-100 pts.wt. of a phosphorus-contg. compound; wherein the aralkyl resin is pref. such one as to have repeating group of the formula (Ar is an aromatic group; R1 and R2 are each an alkylene group; R3 is H or an alkyl; X is OH, amino or an N-substituted amino group).
