Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain fibrid of the title polymer with good dispersibility in water, by flash spinning of a solvent solution in which poly-p-phenylene sulfide has been dissolved, containing polyvinyl pyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol. CONSTITUTION:First, poly-p-phenylene sulfide is dissolved in a solvent consisting of dioxane and/or chlorobenzene at >=250 deg.C followed by adding a hydrophilic polymer (polyvinyl pyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol) to the resultant solution. Thence, the solution thus produced is put to flash spinning using a spinneret to obtain the objective fibrid of poly-p-phenylene sulfide outstanding in high head and chemical resistance, suitable for electrical insulation, chemical filtration, etc.
