To provide a flat cable connector capable of avoiding a contact failure of a lower contact beam when a flat cable is flapped upward, and avoiding a contact failure of an upper contact beam when a load is downwardly applied on the flat cable bent upward.
In a flat cable connector 1, a contact 20 is provided with an actuating portion 24 which is driven by rotating operation of an actuator 40 and upwardly displaces a lower contact beam 22. Flat cable bending position correcting portions 54 and 64 are provided, which isolates a bending position of a flat cable 70 from the upper contact beam 23 to a front side in a flat cable insertion direction when the flat cable 70 is bent upward. Under the flat cable bending position correcting portions 54 and 64 and on the front side in the flat cable insertion direction of the lower contact beam 22, a load receiving portion 12 is provided, which receives the flat cable 70 when a load is downwardly applied on the flat cable 70 bent upward.
