To provide a flat fluorescent lamp having separated discharging space and a liquid crystal display device using the same.
The flat fluorescent lamp comprises a first base plate 100, a second base plate separated from the first base plate 100 with a prescribed distance, running parallel with the same, forming a discharging space containing discharging substance between the first base plate and itself, a pair of electrodes formed to the rim part of the second base plate in parallel with the same, impressing high voltage to the discharging substance contained in the discharging space, and a sealing member sealing the side surface of the first base plate 100 and the second base plate 200 to separate the discharging space from peripheral part. A plurality of thin separation walls are formed in the direction vertical to the electrodes between the first base plate 100 and the second base plate 200 so as to keep a prescribed distance from each other, and the space between a first electrode and a second electrode is separated into a plurality of discharging spaces. The thin separation walls are integrally molded with the first base plate 100.
