Abstract:
PURPOSE: To cut off reliably the current of a superconducting coil, which has caused an abnormality, and to avoid the abnormal operation of a vehicle and the spread of the abnormality by a method wherein elements for magnetic flux detection use are provided on the inside of the outer tank of a superconducting magnet, an abnormality of the fluctuations and displacements of the superconducting coil and other superconducting coils is detected in its early stages and the generated place of this abnormality is specified.
CONSTITUTION: Four pieces of search coils CA1,... CA4 made by winding a conductive wire are installed on the inside of an outer tank 3 of a superconducting magnet 1 as elements for magnetic flux detection use. Voltage signals which are induced in these search coils CA1,... CA4 are sent to a comparison decision device 12 of a decision device 10 via signal conductors 31 to 34, are compared with search coil induction voltages stored previously in a recorder 14 and an abnormality of the signals is decided. When the signals are decided that they are abnormal, the magnetism of the magnet 1, which detected the abnormaly, is demagnetized and a protective measure for inhibiting the fluctuation of the magnet is taken. Thereby, an abnormality of superconducting coils and a generated place of the abnormality can be detected in its early stages, the current of the superconducting coil, which has caused the abnormality, is reliably cut off and the spread of the abnormality can be avoided.
