Abstract:
To enable flexible coping with large item small scale production, customization production of each customer, or partial automation while utilizing advantages of an automatic manufacturing system.SOLUTION: A flexible manufacturing system includes: a plurality of unit cells 10 for performing prescribed work of a work-piece W led in from a lead-in port 6a to lead out the work-piece from a lead-out port 6b; a management device 9 for managing work contents of each unit cell 10 in an individual changeable manner; and connection mechanisms 8 for connecting one arbitrary unit cell 10 and another arbitrary unit cell 10 in a separable manner. In a state in which the connection mechanisms 8 connect arbitrary unit cells 10 with each other, a lead-out port 6b of one unit cell 10 is adjacent to or adjacently faces a lead-in port 6a of the other unit cell 10, and the work-piece W led out from the lead-out port 6b of the one unit cell 10 is led in from the lea-in port 6a of the other unit cell 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
