Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floating type thin film magnetic head which can cope with further low floating by improving further a problem of head crash caused by heat expansion.
SOLUTION: This head is provided with a write-in head element having a coil conductor in which a write-in current is made to flow and a yoke, an overcoat layer laminated on the write-in head element, and a heat block layer formed in the overcoat layer being an upper part of the coil conductor and made of a material having lower heat conductivity than this overcoat layer.
