Abstract:

PURPOSE: To measure a wind velocity or the like continuously and automatically without being subjected to an obstacle due to deposited snow or freeze by detecting the pressure difference between the inside of an opened container installed with reference to the flow of a fluid in an arbitray two-dimensional direction and a surrounding fluid.

CONSTITUTION: An opened container 1 and a container external-pressure sensor 3 are installed with reference to a flow F in an arbitray two-dimensional direction, a container internal-pressure sensor 2 provided with a pressure-receiving part 2a is installed inside the container 1, and a differential-pressure indicating and recording instrument 4 is connected across the sensors 2, 3. The pressure difference ΔP between the sensors 2, 3 is caused when a flow is accelerated and decelerated by the opened container 1. When a flow velocity is designated as V(ms-1) and a fluid density is designated as ρ(kg m-3), a flow velocity V can be found on the basis of a formula ΔP=(1/2)ρV2(C2-1). In the formula, C represents a constant decided by the shape of the open container. In addition, when an open pressure-receiving face is formed so as to be symmetric with respect to a horizontal flow, it is possible to measure a flow in all directions on a horizontal plane.
