PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical filter element and its production.
SOLUTION: For example, a circular filter element for an oil filter is formed by using a long sheet of a paper or paper material having long side ends and a hot-melt adhesive strips. The one of the strips is adhered adjacently to the side edge of a sheet in a longitudinal direction and the other is stretched and adhered to the other long side edge of the sheet. The sheet is folded like a concertina to form a panel 14 and plural panels are assembled in such a manner that the one side face of the concertina-like body and the other face make a hinge-like structure. The panels 14 are pressed so that panels 14 adjacent to each other are fixed. An adhesive 10 is applied over the edge part of the fixed panel 14 to form a bead 16. One sealing element 22 is pressed to the beads of the adhesive 10 on the one end of the assembled body while the other sealing element is pressed on the other end, and the body is heated to reactivate the hot-melt adhesive and to fix the sealing elements 22 to the assembled body.
