Title:
FLUID PRESSURE WORKING IMPULSE DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS51146734
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1535927 Hydraulic impactors INDUSTRY SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 6 April 1976 [8 April 1975] 14438/75 Heading B4C An hydraulic impactor comprises means for admitting pressurized fluid to opposing faces 11 and 6, 63 of a piston 1 to advance and retract the piston 1, and a switching device 8 which controls the admission of the fluid to the face 11 and switches the direction of movement of the piston 1 from a reverse to a forward direction at an instant dependent upon the retraction velocity of the piston 1. In the impactor a cavity 32 is always under high pressure line H whereby walls 6, 63 are always under high pressure. The device 8 can switch a duct 9 and therefore wall 11 to either high or low pressure for forward or reverse travel of the piston 1. At forward mid-way travel of piston 1 another piston 25 is subjected to high pressure due to it being connected to groove 32. The piston 25 shifts latch valve 37 and spool valve 13 toward the piston 1 opening port 15 to high pressure line H. Device 8 is switched on to connect line 9 to low pressure. During the return movement of piston 1 piston 25 retracts due to its connection to groove 29. A tapered portion 17 by now has entered a blind hole 18 of piston 1. Pressure builds up sufficiently depending upon speed of retraction of the piston 1 to retract valves 13 and 37 to low pressure line and hence to switch device 8 to connect wall 11 to high pressure line H. During impact the piston 1 has to move rearwardly a greater amount before a sufficient fluid pressure builds up in hole 18 to retract valves 13, 37 to switch valve 18 therefore utilizing as much energy, due to impact, as possible. If sufficient fluid pressure does not build up a collar 19 of hole 18 engages the portion 17 to retract it to retract the valves 13, 37.
