This torque converter is constructed on the condition that RP1=RT1 and RP2<RT2, where RP1 is the distance of the end part 4a of a pump 4 from the rotation axis X in the innermost part, RP2 is the distance of the outermost part from the rotation axis X, RT1 is the distance of the innermost part of the end 5a of a turbine 5 from the rotation axis X and RT2 is the distance of the outermost part from the rotation axis X, and in this constitution, the width (h) of the gap between the end 4a of the pump 4 and the end 5a of the turbine 5 is made small.
