Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a fluoran compound expressed by a specific structural formula, developing various colors by reacting with developers and useful as a color-producing agent for color-developing recording material and reversible thermochromic material.
CONSTITUTION: This compound of the formula I [Rl and R2 are H or 1-5C alkyl; R3 is OR5 or halogen; R4 is H, 1-4C alkyl or C0R6 (R5 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R5 is 1-4C alkylphenyl); R1 and R2 are not H at the same time] is produced e.g. by reacting a 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-dialkylaminofluoran of the formula II (R7 and R8 are 1-5C alkyl) with 1-3 times mol of an organic peracid in a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent.
