Title:
FLUORESCENCE SPECTROPHOTOMETER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3665014
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescence spectrophotometer, at once low in cost and high in sensitivity, with the number of required condenser lenses decreased and with the orientation angle secured for dealing with requests for higher sensitivity.
SOLUTION: The flow cell 11 has four side faces extending in its longitudinal direction, and a cylindrical specimen flow duct 4 is formed at its central part. A slit 2 is formed on a side face of the cell 11, arranged opposite to the fluorescence side grating. A rear side mirror 3 having an elliptic cylindrical surface is formed, on a side face squarely facing the slit 2, with its two focal points at the center of the duct 4 and the center of the slit 2. An exciting beam is projected on the duct 4 from one of the two side faces which is not the side face having the mirror 3 or the side face having the slit 2, and the fluorescence generated in the specimen in the duct 4 spreads to all directions in the duct 4. The light oriented toward the mirror 3 is condensed at the center of the slit 2 and the light after passing the slit 2 is guided to the fluorescence side grating. By using this design, the orientation angle is enlarged and the condenser lens is omitted from between the cell 11 and the fluorescence side grating.
