EXAMPLE: The compound of formula IV.
USE: A starting material for producing a fluorine-containing polymer of high oxygen permeability, therefore it is used as a starting material for oxygen- permeating material, which will be used for ophthalmologic purposes such as hard contact lenses.
PREPARATION: For example, perfluoropolyether is obtained from FCO(CF2)nCOF and tetrafluoroethylene oxide in the presence of fluorine anion and the product is converted into an iodine compound. The iodine compound is allowed to react with allyl acetate to form a diepoxide, which is treated with methacryloyl halide and an alkali to give the objective fluorine-containing methacrylic acid ester of formula I.
