PURPOSE: To provide the titled novel prepolymer containing a specific compound as a monomer, having essentially linear structure and a molecular weight and an iodine value falling within respective specific ranges, suitable as a reaction accelerator for diallyl phthalate resin and having excellent flame retardancy and weather resistance.
CONSTITUTION: The objective prepolymer is polymer containing ≥1% monomer of formula (R is H or methyl; X is Cl or F) (e.g. diallyl tetrafluoroisophthalate) and having an essentially linear structure and a weight-average molecular weight and an iodine value falling within ranges of 1,000W500,000 and 20W90, respectively. The prepolymer can be produced by polymerizing the compound of formula using polymerization process such as solution polymerization, bulk polymerization, emulsion polymerization and suspension polymerization and terminating the polymerization reaction immediately before gel-formation.
