Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange membrane which is a fluoropolymer ion exchange membrane that is at a low cost and has a wide ion exchange capacity and is particularly suitable for a fuel cell.
SOLUTION: The fluoropolymer ion exchange membrane has such characteristics that after a specific hydrocarbon based monomer, an acrylic monomer, or a fluoroethylene monomer are cografted with a long-chain branched polytetrafluoroethylene membrane against the fluorine monomer having a halogen group and polymerizable double bond, the halogen group in a cografted chain is made to be a sodium sulfonate group by a solution of sodium sulfite or sodium hydrogen sulfite, and moreover, it is made to be a sulfon acid group, a grafting ratio of the ion exchange membrane is 10-150%, and an ion exchange capacity is 0.3-3.0 meg/g, and a manufacturing method thereof is also provided.
