Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provided a welding material for obtaining a repair weld zone which is free from defects by sealing Cu powder at specific % of the total weight of the wire into a mild steel sheath.

CONSTITUTION: The Cu powder is sealed at 20 to 50% of the total weight of the wire into the mild steel sheath to constitute the flux cored wire for arc welding. Si is added to the Cu powder and is adjusted so as to be incorporated therein at 0.2 to 1% and Mn at 0.5 to 3%. This wire is used for repairing ferrous sintered materials impregnated with copper or copper alloy. Significant contribution is made to the practicable use of near net-shape metallic molds in this way.
