Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flywheel structure of an outboard motor lowering the center of gravity of an engine and enhancing the startup property of the engine.
SOLUTION: In the outboard motor, a sensing member 33 which is fitted to a flywheel 23 provided at the upper end of a crankshaft 6 in a manner allowing the flywheel 23 to rotate integrally with the crankshaft 6, has its movement sensed by a sensor means 34 so as to sense the rpm and rotary angle of the crankshaft 6. The sensing member 33 is oriented in the direction of the axis of the crankshaft 6.
