Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain foamed building material which is comparatively lightweight, excellent in heat insulating properties and free from water absorption properties and also has the surface difficult to slip and is inconspicuous even when dirt is stuck thereon.
CONSTITUTION: Foamed building material is produced by mixing both the granular material of an unfoaming raw material and the granular material of a forming raw material which incorporates 60-10 pts.wt. clay, 40-90 pts.wt. feldspar, ≤2 pts.wt. component for generating gas and dark color-based pigment and molding this mixture and thereafter burning the molded form and then grinding or polishing the surface of the obtained sintered body. This foamed building material is excellent in heat insulating properties because the foaming region in the sintered form obtained by burning is a porous body. Moreover this foaming region is a lightweight region which has closed pores (isolated pores, closed pores) and is almost regulated to zero in water absorption properties. When the surface of the foaming region is ground and polished, the cross sections of the pores are exposed on the surface and roughness thereof is raised and this surface is made difficult to slip. In other words, in this case, even when the surface is wetted by water, a uniform water film is not former and this surface is made difficult to slip.
