In the foldable portable telephone 100 having a center line X of a rotating shaft 41 displaced with respect to a center line Y of an opening and closing shaft 42, a protrusion 23 is brought into contact with a surface 1a on a display part side of a display part side casing 1 and a first space S1 is formed between the display part 11 and the operation part 21 in a first folded state wherein the display part side casing 1 and an operation part side casing 2 are folded around the opening and closing shaft 42 so that the display part 11 and the operation part 21 face with each other. A second space S2 larger than the first space S1 is formed between a surface 1b of the display part side casing 1 opposite from the display part 11 and the operation part 21 in a second folded state wherein the display part side casing 1 is rotated around the rotating shaft 41 and the display part side casing 1 and the operation side casing 2 are folded around the opening and closing shaft 42 so that the surface of the display side casing 1 opposite from the display part 11 and the operation part 21 face with each other.
