To move the table of a side-table-equipped folding chair to a position to which a user naturally extends his arms by enabling the table to slide longitudinally.
This folding chair 1 designed to reduce a spacing in the cross direction of the chair comprises: a guide member 51 constructed of two upper and lower pipes extended between front and rear standing rods 22 on one side of a pair of side frames 2; a slide member coaxially sliding within the pipes 51; and a table 5 supported against the slide member. The table is maintained approximately horizontal by a support means 6 and can be folded when it is not supported by the support means, so that the table face 53 extends along the frame face of the side frame. The guide member may be in the form of a wide plate formed with a guide rail, with the slide member sliding in engagement with the guide rail.
