To provide a folding-type mobile telephone which is superior in operability, when receiving calls and enabling the user to listen to received sound more clearly.
Edge portions of both the sides and the upper edge portion of a receiving portion housing project protrude continuously, a box structure is formed by putting the hinge portion and the front face of the receiving portion housing together, and the receiving portion housing is stored there, when it is folded. Since a finger will not come into contact with the receiving portion housing thereby; even if the mobile telephone is held by gripping with one hand, there will be no trouble during opening it. When a slide switch, positioned on the outside of a side face, is slid, folding will open automatically. When the slide switch is operated again, while keeping the state of the folding open, call can be started, even if the telephone is not passed from one hand to the other. Since the box structure cuts off external sounds and functions as echo space of a loudspeaker, the receiving sound becomes clearer. The thickness of the body, when folded, will not become larger, even if the telephone has such characteristics.
