A foreign matter-catching device 13, in which 4 paddle materials 22 are fixed to a shaft, is fixed on the upper part of a water tank 11. The paddle materials have a structure to fit a filter to a frame and the filter consists of a fiber material formed in a lamellar form. In washing foods, the foreign matter-catching device 13 is rotated to agitate washing water in the water tank 11 and foods thrown in from a loading opening 11a are carried to the side of a transfer conveyor 11b by a flow of the washing water. Foreign matters adhered to the foods are removed from the foods by foams jetted from a chamber arranged on the bottom of the water tank 11 and float on water, a part of them adheres to the fiber material of the foreign matter-catching device 13 and a part of them is flown to the side of the loading opening 11a by agitating action of the foreign matter-catching device 13.
