Title:
FOOT FIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01131679
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently convert unforcible reciprocating motion of a motive force by a method wherein a foot placing part and a footweb part are linked by a rod with bending rigidity freely adjustable and the rigidity of the rod suited to a user's leg force is selected to adjust a load from the footweb part by the deflection of the rod. CONSTITUTION: A rod 12 integrally formed on a footweb part 11 and a foot placing part 13 is a solid bar-shaped body with a specified length (e.g. 200mm or less) with the cross section thereof flexible in the direction of reciprocation. A thread hole 15 generally weakens the bending rigidity in the direction of the reciprocation of the rod 12. In other words, it functions to facilitate deflection and a rigidity adjusting rod 16 to be screwed down into the thread hole 15 has a function of adjusting the bending rigidity of the rod 12, in other words, the ease of the deflection by arranging it into the thread holes 15 at specified locations. The rigidity adjusting rod 16 is properly inserted into the specified number of thread holes 15 of the rod 12 integrally formed on the footweb part 11 and the foot placing part 13 so that the bending rigidity of the rod can be adjusted to match a leg force of a diver using a foot fin. This efficiently converts the reciprocating motion of the foot fin to a propelling force without fatiguing the diver.
