Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To issue automatic warnings or alarms in a timely way to organizations that might be affected by severe weather.SOLUTION: A computer-implemented method for forecasting the possibility of severe weather, causes a computing device to: receive data related to thunder activities; determine the position, moving velocity, moving direction and occurrence rate of one or more thunder activity cells on the basis of the received data; to compare the determined thunder occurrence rate with a threshold occurrence rate; to determine one or more geographical areas subjected to risk on the basis of the position, moving velocity, moving direction and occurrence rate of the one or more thunder activities regarding the one or more thunder activity cells; and issue, if the determined thunder occurrence rate surpasses the threshold occurrence rate, alarm to one or more remote monitoring apparatuses watching the risky area or areas.SELECTED DRAWING: None
