PURPOSE: To raise the quality of weld by a method in which the front end of a short nose rail is connected with the coupler of a long nose rail, the adjacent contact faces of each head and each bottom are welded, and the head of the short nose rail is cut to form a gage line.
CONSTITUTION: A high-carbon steel rail is bent and cut to form a long nose rail 10 and a short nose rail 11. The front end inner angle of the bottom 11C of the rail 11 is coupled with the coupler of the rail 10, and the adjacent faces 10a' and 11a' of the heads are arc-welded with the adjacent faces 10C' and 11C' of the bottoms by using patch metals between bodies 10b and 11b. The outside of the head 11a of the rail 11 is cut off to form a gage line (d), the joint front end (a') of the heads 10a and 11a is removed to form a V-shaped nose rail 1. By using the usual rails, the cost can be cut down and the quality of the weld can also be raised.
