PURPOSE: To prevent the penetration of sand and to form a cam profile part having high wear resistance by disposing a cushion material between a chiller and a metal mold corresponding to the cam profile part, forming a casting mold and casting the cam profile part by using such casting mold.

CONSTITUTION: A chiller 1 having the profile conforming to the surface shape in a cam profile part 7 and a metal mold 2 provided with a cushion material 3 on the surface are set, and both are brought into press and tight contact with each other by means of press contact pins 4, etc. A top mold 5 and a bottom mold 6 are successively molded by using molding sand in this state. The top mold 5 and the bottom mold 6 are mated to form a casting mold and molten metal is cast into such casting mold whereby the cam profile part 7 is formed in one body with a cam shaft body 8.
