After a glass material is heated, a holding member 1 is conveyed between the top and bottom forces. When the bottom top 10 begins rising, the tapered face 10a of the bottom force 10 comes into contact with the tapered face 5a of the projection 5 of the nail 2 to pick up the holding member 1 and comes into contact with the lower face of the fixing projection 11 of the holding member whereby the rising of the holding member 1 is regulated. When the bottom force 10 rises, the nail 2 of the holding member 1 is opened outward by the tapered face 10a of the bottom force 10 whereby the glass material 12 falls down on the forming face 10b of the bottom force 10. When the bottom force 10 continues rising, as it is holding the glass material 12 on its forming face, the nail 2 of the holding member 1 more opens outward, until the top end of the nail 2 retreat to the outside of the top and bottom forces. The bottom force further rises to press-form the glass material 12.
