PURPOSE: To accurately and rapidly cut a wood workpiece by providing a forward tip and a reverse tip at one router bit.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of recesses 3, 4 recessed in an axially central direction are formed on the outer periphery of the lower end of a columnar shank of a router bit. A pair of tips 6, 7 and 8, 9 are opposed at both the circumferential sides of the recesses 3, 4 and radially fixed to protrude. In this case, the flanks 6a, 8a of the tips 6, 8 are so inclined that the forward side of the shank 2 is high and the opposite side is low, and the cutting edges 6b, 8b are rotated forward. The flanks 7a, 9a of the tips 7, 9 are so inclined that the reverse side of the shank 2 is high and the opposite side is low, and the cutting edges 7b, 9b are rotated reverse. Accordingly, when the rotating direction of the bit is so altered according to an woodgrain direction, the cut surface can be smoothed by avoiding cutting in reverse woodgrain direction.
