Title:
FOUR VALVE TYPE ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61160508
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate one of gaps between cams to correspondingly increase the cam area so that the surface pressure is decreased, in a four valve and one overhead cam shaft type engine, by arranging a single exhaust cam in the center section of the cam shaft and by arranging two intake cams on both sides of the cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:Two intake-valves and two exhaust valves are provided for every engine cylinder, and are driven by one cam shaft 29. A single exhaust cam 41 for driving two rocker arms 39 for the exhaust valves is formed on the cam shaft 29 in the center section thereof, and intake cams 40 for driving rocker arms 38 for the exhaust valves are formed on this cam shaft on both sides of the exhaust cam 41. With this arrangement since the exhaust cam may be formed as a common single cam 41, one of cam gaps may be eliminated, and therefore, the cam area may be correspondingly increased so that the surface pressure may be lowered. Further, the intake cams 40 are formed independent from each other, and therefore, the timings of these two cams may be made to be different from each other, thereby it is possible to improve the efficiency of the engine.
