A binary freezing apparatus is constructed by connecting a high temperature side freezing circuit and a low temperature side freezing circuit through a refrigerant heat exchanger 11 that is a cascade capacitor. The high temperature side freezing circuit and the low temperature side freezing circuit are adapted such that a refrigerant is circulated in both circuits and a vapor compression type freezing cycle operation is achieved. The receiver 34 is constructed with a substantially cylindrical pressure container and is disposed at a fallen state. The refrigerant heat exchanger 11 is mounted on the receiver 34 through a stay section 37.
